Bonacio tapped for UPH board
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Saratoga Springs builder Sonny Bonacio, who has donated labor to fix up the Universal Preservation Hall, has joined the organization's board of directors.
Universal Preservation Hall at 25 Washington St. has undergone a multi-year renovation process to turn it from a dilapidated church into a concert and event venue. It is exploring a partnership with Proctors in Schenectady.
"Every time I think the news can't possibly get better for UPH, I'm proven wrong," board President Teddy Foster said in a statement. "This adds to the great momentum that UPH has been experiencing in the last year and a half."
Bonacio, who is president and owner of Bonacio Construction, has building projects under construction or proposed throughout the Capital Region and especially in Saratoga Springs, where he is building The Washington on Broadway, Market Center on Railroad Place and The Springs on Weibel Avenue.
"As a native Saratogian, I remember UPH before it was restored to its current splendor — thanks to the efforts of a group of people who just wouldn't give up on this beautiful building," Bonacio said in a statement. He grew up on the city's West Side.
