Saratoga native is one of D.C.'s most beautiful

How beautiful Peter Haviland-Eduah actually was never occurred to me growing up.

We came up through the Saratoga Springs school system together, with him one year behind me, and we played on the same tennis team my senior year. Was he cute? Probably. Sexy? Not my type. Beautiful? Apparently yes, because he has been named to the The Hill's list of 50 most beautiful Washington D.C. politicos.

Check him out below.

Haviland-Eduah, who graduated from Union College, now works as a deputy press secretary for U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY. And now the senator, who has been recognized for her attractiveness, isn't the only one making headlines for their physical appearance.

He comes in at number 25 on the list, which includes members of Congress, staffers and members of the media.

Described as a "worker" in the short post about him, it is also noted that Haviland-Eduah, who played football through college, still likes to work out and coach football. In the article, he says, "I try to work out at least five days a week. I've kind of kept by the old football regimen and will pick and choose and stuff. But I work a really awkward schedule so I'm usually up sometime around 5:30 or 6 in the morning."

The response locally to this distinction has been very positive, with friends writing encouraging comments on his Facebook wall, including a post I left there. Comments on that post ranged from "looking sharp" to "Well done" and the outlier, "Looking good Petey Wetey!!!!!"

Haviland-Eduah has taken it all in stride, even "liking" my second post, which noted that he would be one of the 10 hottest politicos in the state capitol if he came back upstate.

And one day he hopes to come back upstate, as the young Democrat said in his interview with The Hill that he wants to run for political office. "In what capacity I'm not sure, but I would love to run for office and represent the people from where I come from in upstate New York," he said. "I think that would be a great honor for someone like myself, so I'm slowly working towards that."

Haviland-Eduah drew headlines in 2010, when he gained notoriety as the unknown guy following the campaign of one of her potential opponents.

UPDATE: A source close to Peter confirmed that he received some light ribbing at work for his beautiful distinction.
