GloFo donating tons of food
GlobalFoundries today donated 7,749 pounds of food -- nearly four tons -- to the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council food pantry in Saratoga Springs.
The computer chip giant held a food drive among its 2,000 local employees during February, timing it to replenish pantry shelves after the holiday season.
This year's food drive brought in almost double the amount collected in the last Fab 8 food drive a year ago, company officials said.
"We believe the success of our company is directly related to the health of the communities we call home," the company said in a statement. "As a result, we are committed to making investments of time, money, technology, and volunteer expertise in local organizations to help solve some of society's toughest challenges and help improve the quality of life in our communities."
