Investigation at Saratoga Springs elementary school continues
A review of concerns about the practices of Division Street Elementary School Principal Greer Miller is still about a month from completion said Saratoga Springs School District Superintendent Michael Piccirillo.
Concerns about Greer reached a boiling point in June, when public outcry led Piccirillo to hire an outside firm to talk to 13 employees leaving the school. Parents at the school blamed the principal for prompting staff to leave.
The firm has conducted 13 exit interviews and Piccirillo said in an email on Wednesday that the district has identified four general area that could be improved, including school culture as it related to building management and staff, communications between Division Street School community and district officials, training with the teacher evaluation system and an examination of consistency of procedures across the district.
At Division Street School, he added that the district administration is planning on being more visible. Across the district, he said, they'll be more present at staff meetings, PTA meetings and ordinary day-to-day events.
The 13 vacated positions have all been filled, with new employees having between one to seven years of experience, Piccirillo said.
