Ballston Spa spending up slightly

The Village Board has adopted a 2013-2014 budget that includes a 1.6 percent property tax increase and a hike in water rates.

The spending plan totals $3.85 million, up from $3.68 million in the current fiscal year.

A copy of the preliminary budget is available below.

Property taxes will increase by 1.57 percent, from $74.33 per $1,000 assessed value to $75.50 per $1,000.

The village assesses property at a small fraction of its full value. Under the new rates, a home assessed at $14,000 would pay $1,057 in village taxes, $16 more than this year.
