A star for Charles Dutoit
Charles Dutoit will be honored Saturday with a star on the Walk of Fame to mark his final season at SPAC.
The longtime conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra at Saratoga Performing Arts Center takes the stage tonight for the orchestra's opener.
On Saturday, he will be honored at 7 p.m. with a star on the organization's new Walk of Fame, which started off this summer with a star for longtime arts patron Marylou Whitney.
The ceremony on the walkway between SPAC's amphitheater and the lawn is free to all ticket holders for that evening's 8 p.m. performance.
Dutoit is artistic director and principal conductor of the orchestra's Saratoga season, which he has done for 21 years. This summer will be his last season.
"His star in our Walk of Fame is a 'thank you' as well as a tribute to his remarkable contributions," said SPAC president and executive director Marcia White.
Tickets and more information are available at www.spac.org, 584-9330 or at the box office.
