The final autographing session with Saratoga Race Course jockeys to benefit injured jockeys Michael Straight and Rene Douglas will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Impressions of Saratoga, 368 Broadway.
Jockeys Edgar Prado, Alan Garcia, Mike Luzzi, Kent Desormeaux, Calvin Borel, Rajiv Maragh, as well as Sam “the Bugler” Grossman, are scheduled to be present to sign autographs in an effort to help the recently injured thoroughbred horse racing jockeys.
Each jockey will be available to sign his own photo for $10. Photos are provided.
The jockeys are volunteering their time and all proceeds will be donated to a fund to support local jockey Michael Straight and 1996 Belmont Stakes winning jockey Rene Douglas. Both were critically injured this year while riding at Arlington Park, a stark reminder to fans of how dangerous the job of jockey can be.
Impressions is also holding a raffle for a T-shirt autographed by every jockey who has attended these events during the summer racing meet. Tickets are available every day at the front counter of the store or at the autographing table while the jockeys are there. The winner will be announced at the end of this final session for 2009. Proceeds from this raffle will be donated to the Race Track Chaplaincy.
