A cop is a cop if he is working a block party or a shift. He could be injured or worse at either, but with the amount of people and in many cases alcohol being served, I would say that there is a high potential of violence at these festivals. Should an officer not be compensated for risking their lives. Police are working 24/7 even off duty. Many departments mandate that they carry a weapon off duty. Stop the crap, there are only a few of these events each year and we are talking minimal money in the pension. This is just more police bashing in my opinion since the Gazette feels the need to write countless articles on the same junk. I think the Gazette should start investigating themselves, if what I hear is true.

If a police officer is at one of these events and he or she is acting in an official capacity it does not matter if a church is paying the salary and benefits or the city. The officer is still there risking his or her life to protect the citizens. Period.

I don't know joicemadre. Were people born in the last 30 years not ever taught manners, responsibility, work ethics and common sense? Im with reader1 on this one, it's a fair question since the Gazette has made more innuendoes and false stories about the Schenectady Police than anyone. The Gazette lives to bash them but that didn't stop the police from taking down a dangerous felon in the lobby of the Gazette and risk the lives of multiple police officers. Two different groups here, one works with honor and dignity and the other one writes things.

What do you expect from Cuomo. He is a dirtbag of the highest caliber and I don't mean to disparage dirtbags. He should be in prison with Ray Nagin.

Diane Hombach
There you go making stuff up again. Did you think you could get away with your outright lies? First the Hobby Lobby ruling was not a ruling for Hobby Lobby by republicans. The ruling upheld the Religious Freedom Act that was brought to the Senate by Chuck Schumer and Co Sponsored by Nancy Pelosi in 1993. This bill was signed into law by Bill Clinton., Schumer, Pelosi and Clinton are all the most liberal of liberal democrats in government so that would mean that this is a liberal democrat ruling and the democrats are waging a war on women according to your statement and standards.

As far as what if one of the four out of twenty contraceptives that Hobby Lobby supplies are all a woman can take? Simple answer since none of these four pills are contraceptives but rather abortion pills let me use a Hillary Clinton's words that she used about four dead Americans in Benghazi, " what difference does it make anyways".

So you see Diane, not one single part of your letter was even remotely true, it is what liberals like you do all of the time, you keep saying the same old lie over and over again until people believe it's the truth. It's people like you that are dividing this country and causing such antagonism and downright hate.

Let me give you some fact that can change your life. There is no such thing as cold, cold is the absence of heat. There is no such thing as darkness, darkness is the absence of light, Finally evil and lies are simply the absence of God. Have a nice weekend.

The Israelis have agreed to 4 separate cease fires while Palestine rejected them. The Jews live with tunnels being drilled under their city by the Muslims and having their citizens kidnapped and murdered. They spend every day having missiles fired into their country, over 1600 so far this year alone. You sir need your head examined. Please contact me personally and I will pay for your flight to Gaza if you are willing to go there and have a conversation with Hamas and ISIS, you can tell them how great they are.

What about teachers that are making 100k plus per year with summers off along with a few weeks vacation during the school year. Now that's a great gig AND they don't have to wear bullet proof vests in order to hopefully come home to their families after their shift.

John Mishanec, you are blaming a whole network for what a person may or may not have said, (you provided no reference). As for Hobby Lobby, the Supreme Court only held up the Religious Freedoms Act that was sponsored by Schumer and Pelosi in 1993 and signed into law by Bill Clinton. Hobby Lobby also supplies 16 out of 20 birth control products, it does not want to supply the 4 abortion pills. As for "recreational sex", trust me, it has always been there but usually with life partners, not one night stands. I think you should worry more about a government being in your personal business than some talking head on a opinion show who uses terminology you don't like.

Because of the downstate voters. NYS needs to be divided into two states at Westchester. I'm tired of supporting their ultra liberal agenda and waste of taxpayer dollars.
