Oh please stop with the rhetoric, these so called protests are a reason to riot and destroy. The evidence is in concerning Mike Browns death, had the police officer been black, Mike Brown would still be dead, period. As far as Garner, there was a black police supervisor on the scene calling the shots when he died from a bad heart. When you resist arrest then you are risking injury up to and including death, that's the reality. Don't put yourself in those situations and you will be fine. I know many cops and not one of them wants a physical or violent confrontation, they lose pay and are left to hang out and dry sometimes for months before they are cleared. They have a tough job to do and they want to end their shift and go home to their families.

I wonder if Obama will send three members of his team to the funerals of these two police officers or the one in Florida? I wonder if Holder will attend. Those four race batters were loving the publicity from the unwashed crowd until one of their own, a nutcase took it up a couple notches and now have them running for the hills.

Janice Walz, don't compare Gitmo to the Nazis, not even close. Only 26% of Americans are against the enhanced interrogation according to a Pew research poll last week. Also please tell me why the democrats released this partisan report without any input from those involved, especially since these things have been reported and put to bed over the last 10 years. Was it a get even for getting beat so badly by republicans in the midterm elections? You say these tactics don't work, well they got Bin Laden and they also stopped more attacks and they also gave us valuable intel on other terrorists. My take on this is simple, make sure his private parts are wet and red is positive and black is negative.

Let's start by hiring 20 more cops to patrol the streets. It's not going to get any better. Pay now or pay later.

I started a youth group at the 1st Presbetarian Church on State St some years ago. I guess the youth group stopped. Every week I had a police officer there to hang out for an hour (usually on the cops lunch time) we would play basketball and talk. That was a win win. Work schedule had me retire from it and the pastor eventually moved away, someone should step back to the plate and restart that Friday night group. BTW the guy has 10 kids? It costs over $10,000 per year to raise a kid not counting college. He must have a great paying job.

You would think that the Gazette would know that was Detective John Ericson, not John Harris.

These so called protests are a fad looking for attention. If the cop that shot Mike Brown was Black, he would still be dead and the Sgt. in charge in Staten Island was Black... Stop already...

Susan Jenkins,
He was not shot for a petty crime, when he put his hands on and threatened that clerk he committed a strong arm robbery, a felony. When he punched the police officer in the face multiple times and tried to grab his gun he committed a felony, battery on a police officer. What would he have done if he got that weapon? He was six foot five and over 320 pounds, he was charging at the officer. FYI, if the cop was black he would still be dead. When you resist arrest then you are risking more charges up to and including possible death. Don't commit crimes and you will rarely if ever have an interaction with a police officer.
