EVERY political contest is too important to vote party lines.

I guess those new 'gun free zone' signs aren't working out too well?

Phils2008, as you say, the Democrats have shut down the govenment, in protest. Read a column by Thomas Sowell from 10/4/13 concisely stating the facts, if you get a chance. Boy, do I like that gol-danged Constitution of the United States! Also take a gander at a quote from Senator Obama in March 2006 re: the national debt. Illuminating, to say the least.

I concur totally, as do so many of my older-aged friends. Unfortunately we have brain-dead voters who haven't a clue; oh, well, if the government says it's true, it must be! What's your bet that Hillary will amass a huge following despite the fact of Benghazi; "what difference does it make?" For God's sake, she's married to a guy who was IMPEACHED! Now he's the greatest thing since sliced bread! The media has spent so much time on this Trayvon thing, but no mention of similar cases with the roles reversed. BO congratulates a sports person for coming out of the closet, but says nothing about the former SEALS who gave their lives in defense of our freedom. What absolute hypocrisy! BO has done more to damage this country than anyone in my 60-some years. Stay the hell out of Syria; in fact, get us out of the Middle East, we will change nothing; cut off immigration; shut our borders; ship the extremists back to where they belong; Go, NYPD! It's high time we spent some of the billions of dollars that we give to countries that hate us on our own country's problems, education, infrastructure, unemployment, etc. We cannot solve the world's problems, nor should we police the rest of the world. We need to fix us! But this is only my opinion! Some will disagree, but I've gotten to the point where I don't give a sh.t what anyone thinks!

All of you people are correct; we certainly have more important things to worry about than perceived heritage insults. I'm a tad tired of being PC and not offending anyone. Perhaps we should focus a bit more more on our corrupt government, state and federal, and removing it, before it becomes totalitarian. And perhaps we might say a prayer for two year old Logan and his family, who have endured what most of us could never envision. Godspeed, Logan, and may God bless.

Edward is a traitor? Because he brought to light a practice that most of us might constitute as an invasion of our privacy? And yet nothing is said or done about those who repeatedly lie to Congress, like Holder, or who show indifference, like Clinton, with her comments about the Benghazi fiasco. And they do it because they can, and what do we do? Absolutely nothing. It's a sad state of affairs. This country is the greatest in the world, but we are being brought down by egotistical politicians who can pretty much do what they want, with no repercussions. Perhaps we can elect Biden, who lives in his own fantasy world, as the next president. I'm glad I'm old, so I don't have to endure this crap much longer.

pnotto, granted, a horrible way to die, so unexpected, while fighting for life from another disease, but there is so much in life we have no control over. Today I found out that a good friends wife, both of whom I have known forever, passed away, from a form of leukemia, AML; sixteen days from healthy and diagnosis, to death, including 7 days of 24hr/day chemo; no time to prepare yourself and family, no time to get your affairs in order, no time for anything but shock. She didn't even get to join her husband in retirement. I was saddened beyond words. I guess it's true that we should live our lives as if each day is our last.

Raymond, my first permit amendment took one week, my second five weeks, and of course we all know why. I'm sure that the wait now is much longer, so I may wait a bit before my next purchase. The ladies at the Schenectady County Clerks office that I have dealt with are the best; when I called for an appointment, they returned my call posthaste, and explained the circumstances of the delay. When I showed up a tad early for my appointments, there was never a problem, I was ushered right in. They are personable, courteous, and deserve our respect for doing a job that has recently become considerably more difficult. Kudos to them!

Alan, You are right on the mark; it's too bad that people won't wake up and see what BO's 'rule' is doing to us, just the same with the Prince and his suck-ups here in NY. There as too many of our supposed 'representatives' that think that their s..t doesn't stink! The time is coming.

Silver's actions aren't as bad as Lopez's? Well, I guess that an apology squares everything! Silver's been suckling at the tit of the taxpayers for way too long, with his self-important sense of power and entitlement. He's a legend in his own mind! We hold our elected officials to a higher standard, and instead we get no standard. It's always about me, me, me. The Legislature policing itself? Please!! As for the Prince, maybe he can shush everybody like he's trying to do with the Sheriff's and their public criticism of the UNSAFE Act.
