I think this is funny -the democrats have fought and engineered a one party system in the city and now they fight between themselves for position and the spoils. Democracy in action!

I get a kick out of the Gazette -now the issue is solvibility rates? I thought the issue was corrupt cops and supervision? I thought the issue was drugs?that was yesterday. The dept has a fantastic history for solving murders since the 90's but that not important now -although those are often the headlines. how do you solve crimes when your department is so understaffed your running from call to call. How do you solve crimes when your under pressure to improve response times? That was mccarty's big push before. The democrats chronically understaffed that department and then traditionally hire up when things hit the fan -the problem is your losing more cops in the meantime and it takes a year to get one on the street. It takes a comprehensive committment and the city has never given it.

On Should three Schenectady police officers face criminal charges for allegedly failing to fill out paperwork related to the use of force on a drunken driving suspect in December 2007?

This editorial is ridiculous for the greater good we are now indicting officers for crimes for failing to complete paperwork. I guess we should indict every citizen who doesnt fill his taxform correctly too. Wake up the message you are sending police officers is to do nothing that way they wont get into trouble. We cant afford that in schdy. To be convicted of a crime you have to prove that the officers intended to commit a crime not just make a mistake the defense attorneys are going to have a field day and the taxpayers get screwed again.

DG-get your facts straight- internal affairs made a sustained recommendation to Bennett who then took it to the DA who wimped out as usual and called in the AG. you have got to be kidding about silence over the years the SPD has been the most media scrutinized pd in the region tv and print over the years. Each of any of these issues was in the media for months and usually blown way out of proportion by liberal press and carl strock its a wonder the department has continued to function and it has because of the efforts of guys that were just doing their job just like when they went to a call of a drunk man threatening people and causing a disturbance at macdonalds.

iam so sick of hearing about this blue code of silence cliche.that might of have been true a decade or two ago but its not now. It was schdy cops that turned in cops 8 yrs ago and sent some to prison. It was the department that called in the fbi. its internal affairs of the department that sustained action in this instance.stop listening to professional defense attornys and the aclu who pay their bills by sueing the police department

CRIMINAL charges for failing to complete paperwork properly. This is a witch hunt. The continued anti police media along with the american civil liberty union has led us to this hypocrisy. These cops have familys -come from our community and do a job that nobody else can even comprehend, they deal with the worst in society and get continually criticized for doing it. Here a grand jury has said they didnt assault that "upstanding citizen" but should face criminal charges anyway this is over-reaching political correctness not justice.

the gazette is right, that questions about palin's experience is fair game.Just likes obama. however the suggestions that a woman should not run because of family duties is ridiculous. If the right wing was suggesting that same thing every editorial would be calling those comments sexist and inappropriate.Locally is anyone questioning the ability of our democratic congresswomanto do her job after recently having a baby? Even more local how about democratic legislator sue savage who has multiple young children. nobody questions her political involvement. Nobody ever asks these questions about fathers and it is wrong to focus on it now just because she is a republican.

this is what happens when you have one party goverment as we have in Schenectady. The people you elect tend to act like kings because there is no alternative. why does the mayor have to have full control is he afraid to hear everything isnt wonderful from some people who do not necessarily kiss his ring?
