We tore down the government they had, as bad as it was, but it is our responsibility to not leave until we have helped them form a new government to stabilize the lives of the Iragi people.
To corhilator: The Holocaust has eye witnesses and survivors still alive today. The ovens are still there, the mass graves. The World Court investigated and prosecuted many who were responsible for this travesty. For the Resurrection and Noah's Ark, you'll need your faith.
I realize some preachers do not stick to only delivering their religious message and go off on political tangents because they feel religion pervades our entire lives and it does but it is dangerous to espouse on politics. That's why our wise forefathers sought to separate state and church. In ages past, religious leaders had too much power in the kingdoms - the Inquisition, Crusades, etc.
I'm a fan of your column. Regarding Elliot Spitzer's debacle, a quote/saying comes to mind: "The pen is mightier than the sword" and maybe we should add and "The penis is mightier than reason". It's a darn shame some men are ruled and ruined by it.
