John Southworth, I LOVE what you wrote!! I just shared it from NY to Hawaii via email. I couldnt agree with you more! Thank you for putting it so bluntly.

and for Coach Mike.......I dislike the "my kid can do no wrong" as well. But let me add, my children were very well behaved until they started school. Somehow, somewhere, school taught them they are to be respected and it is a birth right, not earned! Too much tolerance is not always a good thing. So please dont lay all the blame on the parents, It's also teachers and School officials who arent doing their jobs.

I agree with you Phil on everything! The NYS rest areas/thruway stops are in the midst of completing some major renovations and face lifts so heres my question to the Library. Why not close and work on one section at a time like they did? I'm no expert or engineer, but since the electric/heat/AC ect seem to the the most worry, can say, 5 areas not be put on separate electric services?

"Fix environmental problems with unclaimed nickels"
This is a great letter, but I have something to add...why not charge the 5 cents on bottled water too? Bottled water has become so popular, and we that drink it have no choice but to throw the bottles away, leading to more garbage in our lanfills. In our house alone, we could return enough bottles in one year to make $125.00. Sure, we could all just give up bottled water and drink tap water, but have you seen the chlorine count? I tested ours last summer with out pool tester. There was a higher content in our tap water. Thats not something i want to drink!

I would love to see downtown Schenectady booming like it once was. It's inching closer with new businesses and eateries, but we need some more place to shop! That's what brings people downtown. Schenectady is in the position now to attract more people with some unique stores. Here's hoping that is also a priority.

This happened to us when we adopted a puppy from a rescue in Ravena 5 years ago. She had her first round of shots but came down with the Parvo virus 4 days after we got her home. It was a long, terrible 6 weeks but we made it thru and she is alive and well today. She does have some constant skin issues but in light of the few times she almost didnt pull thru thats ok. My heart goes out to anyone who has to deal with this virus. Parvaid was available and I got some, but couldnt get her to keep it down. Never heard of using Tamiflu until recently. If I can offer any tips or help on this please email me @ Seawitch1313@aol.com. I would be happy to tell you what steps we took to keep our pup alive.
