Same old Union College arrogance and elitism! It's time for city leaders to stand up to the Union Trustees who have little regard for the city taxpayers or respect for their representatives.

Would Mr Ainlay like to explain why so many other colleges that provide economic benefits to their communities also choose to directly assist taxpayers with PILOT payments and other forms of direct financial assistance. Where does Mr Gillens's Metroplex board member and Union College Life Trustee Neal Golub stand on this question. Let's ask! It's time for local taxpayers and city leaders to take these matters directly to the Union College Board of Trustees and refuse to accept the arrogant and distorted claims of the Union administration. Mr Ainlay --Explain how circumstances are in any way different in Schenectady then in Troy with RPI or in Ithaca with Cornell? Both these colleges make direct financial payments to city budgets in addition to making "massive* other types of contributions of the sort Union College always brags about. Mayor McCarthy is acting in the interest of all Schenectady taxpayers and deserves community support for his efforts!

Nice story and pictures of the Democratic ranks- "superdealagates" who are out of touch with their base need to see this.
Shame on Paul Tonko for ignoring this reality!

Rank and file Democrats from Schenectady will work for Bernie not the party establishment that ignored them in making the Clinton endorsements.

Has the Union College Board of Trustees discussed the city requests for financial assistance with the Union Administration. The Trustees are the ones who approve the yearly college budgets each Spring. It would be interesting to hear the view of Union Life Trustee Neal Golub and a Metroplex member in particular on the Mayor's requests. Perhaps the City needs to hold meetings directly with UC Board finance committee members.
Does Wajda suggest that the many other colleges that do provide pilots to their communities do not also provide large economic impacts in their host communities. This impact claim been used as a completely bogus argument for not helping taxpayers with direct financial aid and is frequently advanced by Union College. Does he suggest RPI or Cornell for example have no beneficial economic impacts on Troy or Ithaca? Both also make direct financial contributions.

Time for a new Building Inspector? Heritage Foundation gave ample warning that was ignored. Time for an investigation by outside experts!
More Schenectady history lost?
