What a shame. New Orleans never had a stronger, better advocate than Mr. Nagin. So what if he skimmed some money here & there.......ALL politicians do that. George W. Bush on the other hand couldn't (& didn't) care that the citizens of New Orleans were drowning during Katrina....he was too obsessed with Iraq and its petrodollars.

I'm a retired state worker. Most of the "M/C" employees I knew were wildly overpaid, and I doubt that has changed substantially.

I never knew only Catholics of Irish descent could join the Hibernians. C'mon,'s 2014. Isn't that a bit out of the old days? Incidentally, my maternal grandparents immigrated to the US from Ireland in the early 20th century, and I'm proud to be 1/2 Irish-American. Irish heritage is one thing to celebrate & preserve, but one's religion is another matter altogether.
