Should a terminally ill inmate be released from prison?... only if the victim is released from pain, suffering, nightmares, trauma, wounds, death!

To: R.W. Gatley... I was at the lock in Waterford last week and walked around the entire area without seeing one single, solitary worker! And of course, no boats going through the lock either! Wonderfully historic spot, but I wondered why on earth we are keeping the system open.

Carol Ramundo... I respectfully disagree. If nothing else, it sends a message home to students, young people, old people, everyone... that exceeding the speed limit, driving recklessly, drinking, texting, etc. will result in this! When I was young, they would put the damaged car right smack dab in front of our high school for all to see... and I applaud that! Although the 2 young people who were killed in last weekend's crash were not at fault (as far as we know... I believe the investigation is still on-going), still and all people need to see what happens when you drive recklessly... and that applies to old as well as young! I'll admit it must have been terribly hard for the parents to see the car, but maybe their friends and family wouldn't let them look at the paper... for for the rest of the world, I believe it's essential to show what can happen.

Well, ok, she's a Dutchess, not a Princess... my mistake, but really, who cares?

With all the coverage in the last few days regarding the loss of the 2 students from Shen HS... today... the day of the funeral of one of those young people... you choose to totally put nothing related to the event... but instead to announce that Princess Kate of England (NOT of the U.S. mind you!) on your front cover... one has to wonder just what are you thinking?? Report LOCAL news FIRST... then you can drool over the princess later on! Readers... go to the TU for the latest info on the funeral of Deanna Rivers.

Students need to be in instructional classes longer than the 6 hour day, 9 month year schedule from a hundred years ago! But alas, I fear we will never get this idea past the almighty teacher's union!

I can't even imagine the pain and suffering the families of these two bright and beautiful young people are experiencing. I can't even fathom what it would be like to bury your child... my heartfelt sympathies to both families. Indeed, wmarincic... a tragedy.
