For years, industrial sites that once fueled the city’s economy have sat idle and deteriorating in and around residential areas. Now, the brownfields are presenting an opportunity for residents to re-invent their neighborhoods.

Hey Get involved-
The school is absolutely responsible for the behavior of children while those children are at school. There are consequences to ones actions. If your child were being threatened by another with deadly weapons while at school and the administrators know about it and STILL choose to do nothing about it- please tell me how that is fair to innocent children who are there to learn.
I like your philosophy on "well if you don't like it then move"- Why should we have to up and leave a home that we have lived in for 20+ years? Why should our children have to go to school in fear when all they want to do is receive a good education? People can blame parents for actions- but most of us have faith in the way that our children were raised. Most of us have given everything to ensure that our children grow to be fine young adults with good morals and beliefs.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion however, your opinion is scary. It is very sad that this is what the future is going to be like for the younger generation.

To Rick...
The information you provided is extremely helpful and I thank you for taking the time to let everyone know- the problem with it is....
once you bring the authorities into any situation- the school then "gangs up" on the innocent children. I had an issue with that. I had a situation with one of my children and because I had another child in the same school, they felt the need to bully my other child. Of course they claim different. Sometimes I feel like the only thing to do is pull my kids from the district all together so that we can all have a fresh start. These happenings have definitely had an impact on grades. So now there is a whole other situation. They are threatening to take programs away, sporting events away, and anything else they feel the need to. Isn't it bad enough our children have to deal with the bullying? Now they have to deal with not receiving the proper education they deserve. When does it end?

I too have been called a pain in the a** parent- I was also told that I was wasting their time when my child was being threatened with a knife and expected the school to do something. Apparently, unless a student gets stabbed "there is nothing they can do" or at least so I am told.
I have never been a fan of home schooling- but it sounds better than ever now. Our children are not safe in public schools. (Which isn't fair to say about all school districts- I'm sure there are schools out there that actually have teachers who really are there for the kids) I can tell you that Saratoga County doesn't-

I would like to remind everyone that the statement- "innocent until proven guilty" still has some meaning. My family and I are very grateful for what Maria has done for us. When no one else could "break through the walls" and help my son out- she did. And because of her, my son is still here.
