It is impossible to legislate rationally when emotions are so high. NY Se
nate and Assembly are going to ram a poorly written knee jerk bunch of legislation garbage down our necks. It will be more of the same back room nonsense they are famous for. It will do nothing to prevent anything. The legislators are most interested in being first in the country to act. They should be more interested in being the most intelligent.

Mr Wilken is right on the money when he says he doesn't need a gun.
He also could not be further away from correct when he says his neighbors don't need high capacity firearms.
You don't get to decide what's best for your neighbors any more than they get to decide what's best for you.
If you choose not to have firearms in your house, that is your business. Mind your business and keep your nose out of your neighbor's as he should do the same as well.

There is a commonality in all drunk driver deaths which greatly outnumber firearm homicides. The Gazette does NOT report what the drunk driver was drinking or where he got his alcohol.

The people responsible for this heinous crime are those responsible for letting him out of jail. He murdered his grandmother with a hammer!!! Someone somewhere thought it was OK to let him back into society. If he was still in jail where he should have been sentenced to life, this never would have happened. I realize it is not possible to anticipate what every prisoner will do upon release but this man murdered his grandmother with a hammer.

Why is it that I didn't have to log in to read this story? I needed to login to read EVERY other story in its entirety. The Gazette's anti gun bias has been and is growing more obvious every day!!! PLEASE REPORT THE FACTS - DO NOT INFER CONNECTIONS THAT SIMPLY DO NOT EXIST BY INJECTING THINGS SUCH AS "The .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle, which had a combat-style flash suppressor, is similar to the one used by the gunman who massacred 20 children and six women in a Newtown, Conn., elementary school earlier this month." IT IS NOT RELEVANT TO THIS NEWS EVENT. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LOBBYING FOR YOUR OWN AGENDA. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE NEUTRAL.

A federal ban on semi autos and clips will not work. There has been a federal ban on narcotics for more than seven decades now. Is there any less drugs in this country as a result?
A law requiring all gun purchasers to undergo an instant background check each and every time they purchase a gun is all ready in effect. I have been subjected to it many times even at gun shows in NYS.
The NRA says that the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
If you do not believe this than please explain why police and SWAT teams with semi auto assault rifles and high capacity clips are dispatched to shootings like in Ct.
The 2nd amendment stands and is perfectly clear.
We are not armed because we are free - we are free because we are armed.

While Obama wiped fake tears from his eyes, inside he was jumping for joy. He or his anti gun administration could not have cooked up a better scheme to take guns from the public. It was not for lack of effort though - does anyone remember fast & furious? My heart is heavy over the Conn. tragedy - I am human. I must say that any legislation that results must not be based on emotion. There are millions of responsible law abiding gun owners. Please let cooler heads prevail and don't legislate based on the extreme actions of a very small number of sick individuals.

If someone were to use a weapon to save a life it would never be reported - It happens thousands of times every year in the US but you never hear those stories. I wonder why.........

Unions in this country fought and won many of the benefits that all workers enjoy. 40 hr workweeks, living wages, overtime, sick pay, vacations etc.... If all workers in this country were organized they would all have bidding rights. Yes there is a cost. Nothing is free....ever...anywhere!

I will never go to horse races - To me its no different or less cruel than dancing bears.
To make matters worse - GAMBLING IS A TAX ON IDIOTS!!!
