ResidentX and Don,
Obviously being the way you are putting down the "people of schenectady" as having to stay here and be low lives pretty much is very rude and disrespectful and you wonder how kids end up ignorent like they do, because of simple minds like yours and putting others down thinking you bigger and better. Let me tell you something, both me and my husband live in schenectady in a pretty decent area and we both have good paying jobs and our college degrees. We have two children and our kids are smart and scoring in the 90's on the NYS exams. My first grader was on a third grade level in Sept when he began 1st grade. So to make a long story short, it's not the districts fault the city is the way it is. Open your eyes and look around you, people are losing their jobs left and right because of the economy, parents are working two sometimes 3 jobs to put a roof over there heads and these kids come home to no one. The way this city is doesn't have to do with our counsels 100% or our super of the schools. It has to do with the citizens standing up for what they believe in and taking pride in there community and our children. But in todays day and age we are lucky if we get to see our kids and be in the community because we work all the time. It doesn't take just a school to shape our children, it takes the community we live in, which would be yourself as well. So stop pointing the finger and help make a change. Start an after school program or volunteer time to help our kids, not put them down and lets see how they turn out. If we all thought the way you did we would be in big trouble. Bottom line I work and my husband , and we have good jobs, our kids attend schenectady schools and we own our home here and we are not " low lives" as you have stated in a few different ways in regards to the people that live here. I am not saying that we don't have a lot of bad apples here because we do, but instead of putting people down , help make a difference or keep your mouth SHUT

On UPDATE: Recount shows Schenectady city school budget passed

That's crap that it failed again. People of this city need to grow up and let it be. Nothing is going to change and you can vote it down 100 times yet the same people in charge are still going to be in Charge such as ely. You voters are no better than the politicians, you let things that make you mad get in the way of making the right decision. These are our children's education , voting the budget down to make a point hurts our childrens education and the tax payers wallets. THink about them rather than just your selves!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we should all vote in favor. Being a tax payer I would have to sell my home if my taxes jumped up to 15% +
No one can afford that and if you can then good for you but not all of us can. No matter if we were to vote NO or not it is what it is and the only way to change that is at the next vote to change the super in charge. Voting NO would only harm the tax payers and the students because there parents would have a harder time providing a home they are used to living in and supplies for school. I think if your a smart person you would vote in favor and then vote them out of the board and the super out of office. That's the smart thing to do. Do you really think ELY cares if we vote it down again? Probably note and to top that they will get more money in the budget. Think of the kids not your selfs and the politics behind it all.

well LKD you said in your own words "In my book, anyone associated with Mr. Janiszewski and Mr. Ely are dirty and if Ms. Della Villa was indeed urged to run ( or chosen) by Mr. Janiszewski then he wanted a puppet to do his bidding and he didn't get that " so now that's your opinion as it's Mr. Stocks opinion until stated other wise by mrs. Della Villa.
And Mrs. Coffey is the best and your lucky to get her, don't bring crap to her table that has nothing to do with running the new school. She will not sink to your level though so even if you did it wouldn't matter. She is gracious and wonderful, she runs a tight ship and our school is well behaved and achieves well academically and it's not only the teachers but the way the students have respect because of her role modeling. Congrats, and we will all miss her.
sucks that we have Wachala being she is a one tract mind person and won't care what we all want, so congrats on your child's future these next couple years :)

First off I don't have to read the paper for facts, I learned my lesson doing that because more than half the time the media tends to turn the tables from what is actually said or they cut out what is said and put in the negative only, hence not reliable. So I have nothing to say about "Did you miss the article about gazette and Mr. J. and the chosen one?" that!
I am talking about what I saw and heard being in the presence of Mrs.Wachala at all of the meetings, were you there? What do you have to say about that if you were? and if u weren't? I think that sums it up, being in the presence of what was said or reading about it? which would you believe? I would believe what I actually heard vs what I read !!

A survey from howe parents and asking someone to run are two totally different things so..............
And FYI your not Breaking nothing to me or anyone else and we can all see pretty clearly what has happened here. Have you ever stopped a moment to realize all the false Accusations Mrs. Wachala made about howe closing when that was NEVER in the talks? But she sure went to the communnity with that statement as well as the media; oh but that is ok in YOUR BOOK. Or that she has "opinions" about people that are in a different area from her or that come from a different back ground. But that's ok with you.. Obviously you haven't followed the story from day one LKD and you need to do some brushing up of your OWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me neither and I never heard of such a thing either. She should be asking the person directly before speaking about the topic. If she is talking from hear say then she is no better than the next. Della Villa had and has good ideas for this district and she is a good hearted person who is up for various opinions. She has been on the PTO for quite sometime now and she is very well liked and respected. I have heard Wachala and she is not open minded and she once she has a thought there is no changing it with facts right in front of her. I want someone openminded on my board and someone that takes others opinions and run with it. These are our kids and it's our district and we should all have a say, as long as it's not harming anyone and as long as it's to improve things because we need some improvement but on the same note we are coming along. The test scores are way up this year , it takes time and no one can change it over night or in a couple years. One thing that everyone has to realize is that these teachers and principles and all the other staff are giving there knowledge and lessons to these kids but really in all reality the parents at home and the community have to dive in and do there part. THese kids need all of us to lead them the right way and if they see this type of behavior where we are not open minded, what makes you think our kids will be. Think about it, this is for everyone. And CKL I think we are on the same side.
I would have been happy for Wachala if I hadn't heard what I did at various meetings and if she were not trying to change a decsion that our school board made through an appeal in which now she is on the board. This is what is in the best interest for our children and our district. Our little one's that live over near the current howe school are going to have a chance to attend pre - K and our kids that are now at howe are given the opportunity to stay in there own school for another 2 years. We need to listen to our kids a little more. AS from what i understand a lot of the kids were for the move.
THanks
have a great weekend

CKL I am in agreement with you more than 100%. I wonder if we can petition the voting results for a re-do and bring out all the anti Schenectady school district decisions mrs. wachala is against and how she refers to children as " those kids over in that area" meaning CP. The district needs to see her true colors as well as the other Ms. Herman ( whom I am not familiar with) and the media needs to interview them so we can see what we have here.
In regards to DELLA Villa being asked to run LKD where did you hear that? I never heard of it and your the only one who mentioned it?

Who the hell cares who asked who to run? Does that really matter? And you sound like your obessed with Janiszewski asking Della Villa to run, that's her business as your saying it's Wachala's business where she sends her kids while holding out a position that another student could have that actually wants it.
Mrs. Della Villa is far from a Soar loser, she is still out there busting her butt to make this transition smooth for our Howe students. What is Mrs. Wachala doing? um, nothing !!!!!
Della Villa does more that Wachala has ever done for the HOWE school and that's a true person who wants to be involved. Mrs. Della Villa has been through hell and back this year with losing her husband and many other things yet she is still out there and looking after the childrens and districts best interest. She has her opinions as does Wachala but at list Della Villa is not and would not be appealing a decision that is a waste of time when it in no way harms any of the students. Many of the students want this move, they want to stay with there friends through 8th grade. I have talked to many of them and there parents and a lot of the 6th graders are so excited so I am happy for them. The parents have to stop and think about there kids and what they want instead of what the parents are afraid of. Change is good and we need to give it a chance. I would have been fine either way as many parents would have but my children are excited to move and stay longer so I am happy for them. I just hope that the predjudice that Wachala has against "certain areas" and " certain people" stops now because now she has to be there for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

LKD it's been all over the news papers and news about our move. And yes the name is changing to Central park Magnet school and they are installing a new play ground. Did you know that I agree with you and have been for this move since I first heard about it because of all the reasons you stated and more? Also did you know this is my childrens first year at how to after moving from another school after being there for 3 years? So this move may be scary to them to but like you said since everyone is going together it's going to be an easier transition. DId you know how against this move that Wachala is? She did everything in her power and still is trying to stop the move. I think our kids will have a better chance at being successful in a K-8 vs going to middle school because all the teachers are with them all the way through. The kids will be seperated in the building, there will be differnt arrival and dismissal times for the 7th and 8th grades as well as seperate busing.
I am so against Wachala because of all the negative she has given from day one about this move and at the first meeting she had no facts just opinions, she kept referring to it as " howe closing". Moving to another building never indicated a closing but this is the info she was passing around and petitions she ws getting people to sign. So I want someone on the board that gets all the facts before giving out information. Also she attacked mrs Della Villa with false accusations at one of the meetings stating "Della Villa specifically said the school was moving" when indeed none of us knew anything at that point nor would say such a thing with out the facts. But Mrs. Wachala has no problem in doing that!
And BTW I am not predjudice by any means except towards Wachala because of the way she represented her self and talked about others in the community.
