I agree with Mr. Ramaley completely. Preventing bullying "sounds" good and makes legislators "feel" good about themselves but it will be yet another burden for schools who already have more than enough to do trying to educate our kids.
Parents need to teach their kids to be kind to others. The schools can't do everything.

I think it's disgusting that the state of NY wants to go down this road. Gambling, like drugs and alcohol is an addiction for far too many people and should be discouraged.

Parents talk to each other and have always been able to find out about teachers and take whatever measures they have to to make sure their kids get in the "good" teachers classes.
Until there is an effective and efficient method for removing bad teachers from the system, our kids will continue to get stuck with them. If unions were smart, they would see the benefit of cooperating with the schools in supporting and retaining the excellent teachers and getting the bad ones out. That would be a win win and teachers would once again get the respect they deserve.

I too have enjoyed your column - even the ones I disagreed with you about. You have certainly earned the reward of retirement and I will look forward to reading the Sunday Gazette to see what you have to say.

"State-controlled" and "improve" in the same sentence...come on! LOL

Yes...the bread is awesome...didn't realize they made it on premise. I have had dinner at Fabios many times and really like it. Know what you mean about the seating, though...they need to address that and I'm sure the tomatoes will get better as the season progresses.

It's a real shame to promote gambling and I think NY is making a huge mistake going down this road. People who really can't afford to will throw money away at casino's but then complain about health insurance costs and ask to be bailed out when things get tight. Disgusting!

Another case of parents who just can't say "no" to their kids! Does anyone have any common sense anymore?

Don't drink the stuff and certainly not the large sizes but everyone has a right to eat/drink what they like. Government should stay away from this stuff...don't they have better things to do like fixing roads/bridges???

What a horrible idea...don't know why anyone would ever want to be a teacher with all the negative scrutiny they get. Yes, there are some bad teachers but how about giving the good ones a break! Just sayin'!
