The city of Saratoga was a dump in 1980. Then the city fathers decided to 'look outside the box'. Perhaps Schenectady needs to check with Saratoga and see what they did to turn their city around.
Horse racing is not the major draw to Saratoga. Security, night life, entertainment, quality of life is.

These land lords have to stop buying nice property and destroying it. The tenants ,(on welfare), all deserve a nice place to live. The land lords should cut their grass, shovel the side walks, take out the garbage and repair any damage the tenants accidentally make to broken windows, holes in walls and from their poor kids marking up walls and smashing appliances etc.
If any poor tenants should sell a little weed or drugs to make ends meet; the land lord should bail them out and pay all the fines for not reporting them. As any home built prior to 1978 has lead in the paint, the land lord needs to watch the kids and make sure they don't munch on the tasty trim. Since tenants have no income and don't buy the required renters insurance; the land lord needs to be responsible for that cute pit bull, also check the smoke detectors monthly to make sure the batteries are still there and be sure the tenants don't smoke in bed.
Going to be a little tough as there is a law against choosing to rent to tenants for just about every conceivable reason by the land lord and that the tenants can refuse entry to their apartments that they now 'own' under the lease laws.
Putting a tenant on a land lord list of who has been a problem tenant is unlawful.

Remember that when you are critical of posts others make.
Actually; the police are hardly recognized, never happy to be seen in public but are criticized when they don't immediately show up when called. Not a job many want to have, are skilled or self controlled as needed or who would think the average pay is adequate enough for the demands and danger.

Make sure you have smoke detectors in every bedroom and outside in the hallway. Also have several carbon monoxide detectors. If you have children; be aware that kids sleep through alarms. Have at least a smoke detector and co detector in each adults bedroom. A fire doubles in size every 60 seconds and co will over come you in just minutes.

Perhaps the 3 counties need to get together and market the area simultaneously for different draws. The Northway corridor could have tourists coming to the capital district for the casinos, entertainment, summer fun, horse racing, parks and shopping. I see a train from Saratoga to Lake George running several times a day with stops at the destinations or connecting commuter buses be a logical next project!

Richard Coyler; Seriously! You believe that having your own AR15 will protect you from tanks, quad 50s, rockets, drones, and air strikes? And who is going to attack you; fellow citizens who volunteer to join the military and take an oath to uphold the constitution.
Have you been in the service, the reserves or how about the boy scouts? This extreme fanatic paranoia to play Rambo and kill trees with bullets has got to stop. Stick to your video games and let the real men who have the training, professionalism and mental stability be properly armed. They don't need more nuts with super guns to worry about.

Justin; what about those workers that show up to your house and drop their butts at the front door, all around the yard and flick them into the drive way as if they have no respect for the people paying them. I have fired several guys who actually get hostile when I asked them to 'pick up your trash and butts'.
It appears that the majority of smokers today are lower social-economic class. No wonder they lack the skills to advance. Another example of poor upbringing and lack of basic social skills that the schools don't teach.

Mr. Todt; stop listening to Rush Dimbough. Winds are caused by temperature differences and don't lose energy just because they run over a windmill any more than a car causes earth changes because it displaces air. Cars do, however, cause climate change due to the fact that burning a fossil fuel releases harmful gases.
As for the absorption of sun rays by solar collectors; that is open for discussion. Reflection of sunlight needs to be from a bright and reflective source. Open farm land or fields actually absorb more than they reflect.

I like the part about 'diversity' in the schools. The kids get to see drug dealers, bullying and gangsta stuff. Paying the lunch money to some kids from da hood, stolen personal items, some self defense techniques and alternative style pants around the knees clothing style.
