You guys appear to be fostering 'race' by promoting that this was a 'hate' crime perpetrated by Zimmerman.
The jury said NOT!
Accept it and move on.

The small local corner markets survive off local shoppers. I hope this deters more merchants and food stamp recipients from this illegal activity.
Horray that there is some enforcement against the merchants who ruin a good thing for the deserving people. Schenectady has a large population of undereducated, mental and physical disabled.
No one else wants to live in the city.

So: Duanseburg and Mariaville should add a fee towards the costs they may occur during the festival. Does the camp employ local people for security, EMS, fire control Etc?
As for the mess along the road leading to the camp; the owner simply needs to hire a local cleaning crew to do a daily maintenance and cleanup.
Work with the festival so every one can benefit a little.
Keep bashing any positive events in Schenectady county and we will become Detroit.
We need many more events such as this. A jazz festival, art/craft/antique festival. Any thing to put Schenectady in the black.
Down town ain't making it. The bumbs and druggies still control the night.

The city is facing bankruptcy, has a glut of rentals, single family homes are not selling. The basic services are aging, hundreds of houses are being foreclosed upon, there is no money to repair, board up or tear down the dilapidated homes.
Detroit is in the news -going bankrupt and failing due to inept leadership and loss of jobs. Schenectady following the same road to ruin.
They got money to pay Galesi;
Something smell fishy here!!!

Mayor McCarthy wants critics, (distressed tax payers), to offer solutions for his problems. If these guys can't or won't acknowledge the citizens valid complaints; they should all be voted out.
Why would any elected politician cater to a rich special interest----hmmmm!
Follow the money.

Used to be Scotia firemen took time off to paint the village hydrants, Schdy firemen were down town putting on exhibitions on State Street, cops were having public competitions with firemen basketball, baseball games, Union college had freshmen clean up the neighborhoods and streets, the bridges with graffiti were painted by public employees.
Now most city employees make close to $100,000 don't live in the city and are never around for public relations. Too many are at lake camps, patronizing out of town stores and rushing away with the city paychecks. The pay is for performing the job that kids from Schenectady county make $30,000 a year fighting in Afghanistan. They come back to no job, high city property taxes and real stress.
Time for every one to pay back to the taxpayers that pay them.

How many highly paid city employees volunteered time to pay back to the residents; cops, firemen, white collar, blue collar; any one?

As a past member of a local Economic Development Commission; I can tell you that these events bring in a lot of funds to the community.
SPAC has The Dave Mathews Band, FISH and many other controversial events. Thank goodness the State Park knows a good thing when it sees it.
My only issue is that Schenectady City doesn't promote more money and name generating activities. A farmers market and small Jay street Jazz festival is a far cry from what we should be supporting. Where is the wide screen IMAX theater, SCCC sponsoring ACF national chef competitions, River side fishing tournaments?
Central park, the Veterans park on State Street and down town Schenectady should be putting on major summer events bringing in thousands for a weekend themed festival. Enough complaining that you have to put up with a little inconvenience for a couple of days.
'Schenectady is the summer entertainment place to be' is what I am talking about.

How about not typing in caps?
Actually; the militarys role is not guard duty at our border. Hire more security guards to ride around and patrol the border.

wmarcinic; I agree. This is all about the liberal press catering to the right. Why no tears for the thousands of 'kids' dying in foreign wars, Chicago or NYC teens killing each other, sympathy for the victim's of robberies and rapes in these communities that have to hire their own watchmen and gate their entrances?
Take one instance where you can ostracize a white guy for imaginary transgressions against behavior that fits a stereotype. Is there justification for a neighbor hood watch man to be suspicious of some stranger late at night in a crime ridden community; or do you just want to vent against him because it makes you feel big and self righteous?
