Borrowing is never a good idea. Just so happens that the NY Times ran an article today about the Dutch pension system. Americans should take note:

A happier ending for everyone would have been if Tirado surrendered herself to the Animal Control officer.
The dogs were only doing what they were taught to do. She is the animal here.

Time for a Financial Control Board to take over Schenectady's finances. It is obvious Mayor McCarthy and his cohorts (Democrat council members) do not represent the Schenectady taxpayer.
As Ms. Brucker has shown, she has nothing but contempt for Schenectady taxpayers, many of whom are being forced out of their homes because of these annual non-stop tax increases.
Enough is Enough! C'mon Cuomo, appoint a Financial Control Board!

Can we have a recall of Mayor Gary McCarthy? It is so obvious he does not represent the taxpayers of Schenectady. And get rid of any council member who does not vote to override his veto.
Talk about a sleazy government. They wait until after Election Day to let us know that the small tax increase we were going to have was all a joke.
Wake up Schenectady taxpayers!! You keep voting them in, and they will continue to screw you.

Regarding Chairwoman Judy Dagostino's comment: “The cap has made this a very challenging budget year,” she said.
What was so challenging about it since you just ignored the cap anyway and produced a budget that was DOUBLE the tax cap?
I hope Schenectady politicians enjoy this term, because it will be your LAST!

Is this article satire? You start the article by saying the legislators are overpaid with overly generous benefits to what amounts to a part time job. You then imply that a pay raise would be justified if the Triborough Amendment is repealed.
So you have no problem rewarding upper income legislators if they destroy the bargaining rights of middle class workers?
The Schenectady Gazette prides itself on being the only locally owned newspaper in the Capital region, but after reading this article, perhaps you should consider moving to Wisconsin. Scott Walker would love your anti-middle class, anti-union viewpoints.

Now if only I could convince my employer to give me a 7.49% raise to cover this tax increase in Schenectady city and county taxes.
I was warned by friends not to move to Schenectady, but I ignored the warnings. How foolish of me.

Shouldn't the headline read: "PEF needs to get real and reconsider" ?
Right now it says: "CSEA needs to get real and reconsider."
