“They are our big guns — I’ll miss them,” Isabella said. “I’m glad there isn’t any more leaving because we’re going to be in trouble next year filling those four spots, the way they’ve played this year.”

Way to undercut your program coach........"we're going to be in trouble next year", you really should think before you speak next time..........

Citing personal reasons, Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons boys’ basketball coach Garry Horne has resigned.

PERSONAL REASON-NEXT SEASON THE KNIGHTS ARE GOING TO BE TERRIBLE AND NOT EVEN THE GREAT (laugh here) GARY HORNE CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

mom I couldn't agree more. And I'd like to add the "drop-out" rate will also increase.

Obviously sports takes a back seat over education, but in this urban area sports may be the only thing keeping some kids in school.

FIND A MIDDLE GROUND!

stoddard I agree with you too, eliminate some unnecessary frills, but here is where the problem with that comes in...........ACORN. They recently said the high school isn't doing enough to help teens with this suicide issue, well I say, what ever happened to parents raising their kids and the schools just teach them. ACORN wants something for nothing, and so do the do nothing parents whom should not of had children if they never intended on raisning them.

Janiszewski said he did not want to cut arts funding. “Arts is not frill. I consider it core curriculum. The benefit to students involved in the arts has been shown over and over again,” he said.

Board member Lisa Russo said eliminating a strings program would be a tremendous setback, especially since the district has received a national award for its commitment to arts education.

Well Mr. Janiszewski & Ms Russo sports are to some kids as the arts are to others. Don't make the distinction that the arts are more important, you're walking a fine line of discrimination.

“I honestly feel we can compete. We only lost one senior. I think we have a legitimate shot at going 8-8,” said Golden Knights coach Dwight Doepel.

That's it Mr. Ely take sports away from the kids, but pay Mr Raducci retirement benefits, HOW INSANE!!! Mr. EXPLOSIVES should have lost his rights to a retirement the minute he brought an explosive device into the Mont Pleasant Middle School. I could understand if he was accused of DWI or Shoplifting, sure you may want to give him his due payments, but this man put every child in the school in harms way. Take his retirement benefits and give it to every sports program at SHS.

On Schenectady schools may be facing big cuts
