Hi Mark

We don't need a lecture on how to post comments.

What we need from yours and other publications like it is that your "reporters" and editors like yourself at least make some effort to appear that you are presenting different sides of an issue, rather than only one side. Clearly the immigration lawyers, well-heeled Big Business lobbying groups (e.g. "Compete America", US Chamber of Commerce, and other such groups) who financially benefit from displacement of well-educated, qualified American workers by lower-paid immigrant / Foreign workers had their say. Your publication slaps American workers of both sexes and of all ethnic groups in the face during a serious economic downturn, presenting a strongly biased point of view with no balance, and then you act surprised at the strong negative reaction?

How long to you think people like yourself are immune to being replaced by lower-paid foreign workers? There are plenty of people in India who speak and write English as well or better than you or your "reporters", who are willing to work for far less money than you are. Your time is coming. What American Manufacturing workers, High Tech workers, Nurses, etc. have experienced will become your own experience sooner or later. Are you familiar with the German word "Schadenfreude"?

Here again we have yet another "we need more immigrants / Foreign workers" news story that was written as if the "journalist" was being paid by a large lobbying firm employed by Big Business. How in the heck does this pass for balanced news reporting? The economy is in terrible shape with our jobs being exported offshore in record numbers; and for the few jobs that remain here, 'news stories' like this one tell us that we need more and more immigrants / foreign workers to take these jobs, that these foreign workers are "essential". My God ! Folks, if there really were a "shortage" of qualified Americans and Permanent Legal Residents (Green Card holders) for these jobs, why is it that wages, benefits and working conditions for average workers are all on a downward spiral, while CEO / Executive pay has passed stratospheric levels? Doesn't the law of Supply and Demand dictate, that if in fact there were a "labor shortage", that wages would RISE?

Big Business has been very successful in driving down wages for Manufacturing jobs. Manufacturing is largely a dead industry here, with the jobs now mostly located offshore in lower-wage areas. Big Business and their lobbyists (including 'journalists" like the ones who wrote this article) told us "don't worry - the High Tech / New Economy jobs will make up for the loss of manufacturing jobs" etc. Then, High Tech jobs have been both filled by H-1B Visa foreign workers and shipped offshore (offshoring is enabled by the H-1B Visa) while our own college grads as well as educated workers over the age of 35 can not get jobs in their chosen fields. Now, there is a lot of baloney being published about the "nursing shortage". Why is there a "nursing shortage"? Could it be that wages, working conditions and opportunities for advancement once available to those in the nursing profession have also deteriorated? And of course 'journalists' like those who wrote this article will tell us that the only solution to this "nursing shortage" will be to import millions of lower-wage nurses from overseas, rather than to provide better wages and working conditions for our own Citizens and Permanent Legal Residents.

Folks, it's the same old story and the few people who benefit from it are Business Executives who can drive down labor costs, or immigration lawyers who make a fortune off of a steady influx of foriegn / immigrant workers. American Citizens and Permanent Legal Residents, of both sexes and of all colors, get screwed. SHAME on the Daily Gazette for publishing yet another unbalanced, biased, anti-American-worker propaganda piece. This paper is best used for housebreaking puppies or lining a bird-cage.

On Immigrants make it all work
