It may have been a miracle but it sounds to me more like it was a case of superb preparation, execution, cooperation and, most of all, persistence on the part of two crews of DEC Forest Rangers.

justapto must have heard the old Minnie Pearl joke about her local fire department receiving an award for "never losing a chimney."

What a superb tribute it is to the Republican party to make their greatest star of the last election a woman who's "claim to fame" is that she beat a long-time incumbent Republican. If that's the most important GOP winner you can find to congratulate, Mr. Cox, it sounds like you believe Tea Party politics will succeed in New York. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

After dark, the library is much brighter than the police station. The driver was from Glove City Transportation, as in GLOVERSVILLE. Being 25 miles from your own city & having a choice of a well-lighted, obviously busy public building or a large, dark, brick monolith, which would you choose? Either way, the 911 dispatcher saw where the call came from & dispatched paramedic aid from the fire department (which is only seconds away from either one). If there's any lesson to be learned, it's to look into making the police station seem less hostile at its front entrance.

Perhaps the biggest tragedy of war is that once a PTSD, always a PTSD, never an ex or former.

Somewhere in the process, there must be a review of the fees involved. The last I looked the cost of getting a Green Card was well over a thousand dollars and that's for applying without using a lawyer (which is almost impossible). So you can add at least another thousand dollars for the lawyer This will bar most low wage candidates from applying even if they become eligible!

It's certainly a wonderful idea for anyone not affected by the cost, such as the members of the Task Force, who almost certainly have houses that would be grandfathered. But as is very well pointed out by the builders, no home buyer will even consider it on a cost vs benefit basis after calculating the odds of being saved from dying in a house fire.
