I have to wonder why the Gazette didn't list the Montgomery County Exit 27 location as a possible casino site. Clairvest IS one of the largest casino investment companies in the gaming world. Maybe the residents of Montgomery County don't buy enough papers.......

Everyone is missing another important part of raising the minimum wage level (which I really have no problem with). Imagine the payroll dollars that will become taxable and the lessening of assistance dollars. The government(s) make out the best. Higher taxes coming from the ones least able to afford them and less Social Service benefits paid out. The government wins, again on our backs.

What a great political ploy Mr. Cuomo. Do you actually think this will help you collect enough votes to win the presidency? In reality, there seems to be little evidence that assault weapons have been used in virtually ANY crimes in NY. No public input, little discussion, but you beat the president to the punch. Good Job Andrew...This is going to cost you your political career.

If they would go back to "neighborhood" schools and stop the expensive practice of Magnet Schools, that allow any child to go to any school in the district with free busing, maybe our school taxes would get a reprieve, at least in Amsterdam. I realize that the theory behind this type of schooling is to balance the educational standards so each school in a district is similar in opportunity to the rest, but how are we going to continue to support this expensive program. This all started with the State "gifts" to the district to implement this type of program, but then the "gifts" went away. BEWARE the State bearing gifts!

Is anyone aware that the "CHIPS" payments for reimbursements to local highway departments for road improvements, normally (or should I say previously) paid by the state are drawn on the NYS Thruway Authority funds? Maybe the state knows more about this than they're letting on???
