The terrorists have won, America is becoming a police state. What's next, back to completing in the nude?

We are getting even slower air traffic in the name of saving money, but we can waste $16M on this pile of pork? Who pays to maintain this thing? The initial cost is the tip of the iceberg, it will need to be cleaned, repaired, policed, and eventually torn down to keep it from falling into the water. Like any area with low pedestrian traffic and far from prying eyes it is likely to attract criminal activity.

If you read the editorial page you will see that "due dilligence" migght mean dilligently find every anti-gun editorial and letter and print it, with an occasional poorly written pro-gun letter which either lacks facts or is otherwise sounds as if gun people don't see a problem. i have only seen two good pro-gun letters in the time since Newtown.

I wonder if the mayor is going to announce that one of the assistant chiefs is moving into the city after all, or that he is backing down and ignoring the rule that the chief must live in town. The media have reported that if a chief's exam is given, one of the top three qualifiers must get the job, but that if no exam is given or the exam results age out after two years then another person may be named. Could the Mayor appoint Mr Mitchell chief?

Pity no one proof reads the headlines any more, the chief will not be named, the selection will be made public, which is not the same thing. Something like "Mayor's Selection for Police Chief to be Revealed Monday" takes about the same space and is better fitted to the planned event.

What wasn't mentioned in item #2, Social Security will be safe a little longer, although Congress will object to increasing funding until it's about to go broke, I'm sure. The GOP-proposed "means testing" would turn SS from a return of money you contributed to a welfare program, punishing people for saving money in addition to SS.

That is one nasty cop who wrote that ticket. Obviously his kids were properly belted in, no bad driving otherwise, but the cop had to write up something. Cop deserves an award, like a big bag of used kitty litter. Most cops would praise that driver for having everyone secured.

Hope the NHL keeps it up, we get to see more local and college hockey. If the networks did another deal which pays even if they don't play, the NHL has no reason to settle.

Pity he missed getting into the Hall of Fame by one vote. He made the game what it is today, made all the players millionaires, and didn't get honored for it.

The one time TW was right, they caved, and now they can claim "added value" to raise our basic cable price again. They should make all these channels pay per view, instead of adding six channels of garbage to one desired channel and calling it a "tier." Once again corporate greed wins, working people lose.
