Until something is done to cause me to feel safe when in downtown Schenectady, I will stick to shops and restaurants elsewhere. This past winter, three times over three consecutive weeks, my husband and I were panhandled while walking on State St. Once by three young boys waving a large stick at us, the next by a young woman pushing a baby carriage and the final time, a man followed us yelling obscenities at us because we would not give him anything. We have avoided downtown Schenectady since then.

fitzdawg - Many cities in the snowbelt use enclosed mini snowblowers with treads similar to army tanks to handle sidewalk snow. The snow on the Western Gateway sidewalks could be handled by shooting it directly over the wall into the Mohawk. Taxpayer money spent wisely - too logical for our neck of the woods.
