Judging from the show and what I've heard, I'd say that personally, I enjoy their older material the most. It seems to have more of a "punk" edge to it. But as I said above, I don't believe that there is anything inherently wrong with being mainstream. And The Academy Is ... certainly knows how to write strong, catchy pop tunes that will stick in your head, especially on the group's most recent album and singles.
