Christmas would be so much more enjoyable if we actually celebrated it during the Christmas season. The four weeks previous to Christmas are Advent, time to prepare for the birth of Jesus. December 25 is, of course, Christmas Day, followed by the Twelve Days of Christmas leading up to Epiphany (or Little Christmas or Three KIngs Day). That week and a half is the real Christmas season. *sigh* Makes me want to eat ho-hos.
RE: "Dogma" - I like the fact that God is a woman that looks like Alanis Morrisette, likes to do headstands in flower beds and beeps your nose in response to difficult questions. Amen.
Sheesh... MagicMark seems to be the only one who is one the mark. Everyone else needs to learn a little tolerance for other's opinions. Do you all realize how lucky and/or blessed we are to even be having this conversation? There are many places were we would be shot for such treason. So however you feel about the upcoming election, please shout it out WITH YOUR VOTE.
If I have some chicken or turkey parts left over, or better yet a whole carcass, I will roast it for about 20 or so minutes in a slow oven. It makes all the difference in the world for your stock.
Interesting that these jobs need to be cut while the city (or should I say the Mayor) wants to build a rec center that only he seems to want. And that city residents are paying on a loan for a building that isn't even approved yet. Interesting.
RE: Marx Brothers movies... There is a great scene at the end of Woody Allen's "Hannah and Her Sisters" where Allen uses the Marx Bros. to explain the meaning of life. "Hannah" is a good movie to see for a lot of reasons, this being one of the top reasons.
The film version of "West Side Story" is one of my favorites. The opening sequence, with the aerial views of NYC and that amazing music, and the opening scene of the Dance at the Gym never fail to give me chills.
