In most cookbooks you won't find "Corned Beef and Cabbage", but instead, "New England Boiled Dinner". Near the end, you mention how easy it is to just throw the corned beef and cabbage wedges in the pot, but if you put the cabbage in at the same time as the brisket, you won't have any cabbage left after a couple hours of cooking. Put the cabbage in last of all the ingredients...maybe 30 minutes before it's all finished.

Thanks for a good article.

Hard to believe this "mother" when she says she spent ten minutes trying to stop the strippers. It shouldn't take more than about 45 seconds to put an end to a few lap dancer. Bottom line is this mother - I use the word, mother, loosely - hired strippers for her son's 16th birthday party.

skody54 - Not sure you should be blaming George personally for what the legislature did. Also, be careful what you wish for, and be prepared to open your wallet, since for some reason democrats find ways to spend our money...

Snowgrinch - While it's true that the divorce rate per capita is higher in Red states, it's also true that the marriage rate is higher in those states. It follows that the divorce rate is not going to be high in Blue states where more couples live together and do not marry.

zelasko - I'm pretty good at unraveling puzzles into plain English, but not this one. Maybe you'll be kind enough to interpret this.

"Pasta Heads" = ?
"fake Republicans" = ?

Thanks

I saw the Stones in 1979, and they were on the other side of their best years then. They are a joke now, but still these senior citizens can draw sold-out arenas. Amazing.

Irv - Sure did enjoy your recounting this great Thanksgiving memory. What a great way to share the family table year after year.

After many months of polluting the landscape and airwaves last year, I'm glad some of the Occupy protesters are making up for it by being useful. Good for those who are doing this great thing.

Miss Tkaczyk called my house yesterday. I do give her credit for personally making a call, but was put off by her emphasizing that she is "anti-fracking". While she entitled to her opinions, the issue of hydro-fracturing does not directly affect my district. Because of being the seat of NYS government, the economy of the Capital District is fairly robust. But that is not the case in the southern tier where hydro-fracturing is an issue. There the economy is in great need of a financial boost.

It's misguided people like Cecilia Tkaczyk that are content with living well even though others are languishing economically because of senseless opposition to natural gas development through hyrdro-fracturing.

What's surprising about the court's decision is that it was split. There were actually three judges that dissented, arguing that a lap dance can be considered art, and therefore should not require Nite Moves to pay sales tax on money they charge for lap dances.

If the majority had been the other way, just think of all the juice bars, offering this new "art", that would crop up all over.
