Just a comment about language: Urdu is not the mother tongue of the Indian Subcontinent. It is a language that has its roots in Persia and came to India during the Muslim invasions/immigrations during the 16th century and earlier. It is primarily spoken in Pakistan and in the major Muslim sections of India. There are approximately 23 recognized official languages spoken in India alone. If one were to be designated as the "mother tongue" it would probably be Hindi which is based on the ancient South Asian language of Sanskrit.
