I too have fond memories of the horse drawn delivery wagon, followed by the motorized version from my childhood in the Mont Pleasant section of Schenectady. Ah Freihofer delivery, the ice man, the rag man, the guy that would sharpen your knives and scissors and fix your umbrella as well as the delivery of coal for the furnace. Those days are long gone and unfortunately, so are many of the delicious products Freihofer had to offer. More than missing the delivery we miss the Louisiana Ring, the Honey Pecan Ring, the frosting and coconut topped breakfast cake (can't remember what is was called) and most of all, the version of the Hot Cross Buns with the cinnamon and sugar topping that were only available during Lent. I can do without the delivery but oh how I wish they would bring back that version of the Hot Cross Bun.
