About 400 elementary- and middle-school students taking part in the Shenendehowa Inventors program will display their inventions at the former Cotton Market store at Clifton Park Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
To those who think America started as a Christian nation: You're confusing the Pilgrims with the colonists. The country began as a revolt against the King of England. Our Constitution explicitly makes no mention of gods or holy books because they intentionally decided to leave them out.
When we signed one of our first treaties with a Muslim nation, the Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11 drove the point home:
"Art. 11. ***As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion***; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
This treaty was ratified unanimously - 339 out of 339 votes in favor - in 1796, 20 years after our nation declared its independence and only 12 years after the Constitution was signed.
The majority of our country may be Christian, but our state is and shall remain wholly secular.
Tommy, I don't know what you're talking about. The post office is supposed to deliver all sorts of things, and they're terrible at it! Why, I still haven't received my takeout kung-pao chicken, and I ordered that on May 20th! I had a big dinner planned with a bunch of friends, and the post office never delivered my groceries, so the whole event fell flat.
How can we trust a government that can't even get its agencies to deliver the things they have nothing to do with? Come on!
No, I don't. The flag isn't nearly so important as the ideals that it represents, to me. But I do work for the government. I'm doing my part to support the Navy, as a civilian.
I love it; "Christianity is not to condemn", immediately following "since mankind had went on his own and claimed his own rightousness and denied Gods rightousness, he has perverted all his ways." Do you people even THINK before you click the 'post' button?
Your god is not relevant.
By the way, MrsC08: There's likely a word filter in the comment system to block certain words.
I wholeheartedly agree! And since many fertilized eggs are naturally flushed out of women's bodies through menstruation, I hereby demand that we ban the monthly menstrual cycle! After all, those fertilized eggs have souls, right?
There is no "natural law", you bigoted fool. I'd bet my life savings that you would STILL argue against homosexuality WITHOUT the nonsense NARTH feeds you.
There is NO rational, non-religious argument against gay marriage. None. NOT ONE.

My apologies - only *9* years, not 12 years, after the Constitution was signed (in 1787).
