I am not a Dan Patrick fan. I always found him to be arrogant and an suck-up to athletes. His column for SI is terrible. Rick Reilly is missed. What is the root for his popularity, I do not know.
Why did WOFX get rid of Chris Myers? He was decent and not condascending to all who were listening.
I hope they keep Wyland live from 9 AM to Noon. Albany needs a local midday sports talk show, not another national one.
Sure, you can compare prices for minor league sports, regardless of whether it is baseball, football, indoor soccer, hockey or basketball. But, footballgirl, I respect your passion.
What wonderful news! Growing up in Buffalo, I watched HNIC on my 19 inch Zenith Black and White. Bill Hewitt, Dave Hodge, Brian McFarlane, Danny Gallivan, Dick Irvin and don't forget Peter Puck.
Yes, it is, in theory, a professional sport, but it is not really a professional sport. These are semi-pro players. I have watched Arena Football on TV and in person and just don't like it. I like soccer, but many people don't, so everybody has their favorites.
When the Triple A Rochester Red Wings charge $9.50 for the top seats and the Albany Conquest/Firebirds charge $30, something is seriously wrong here. Seriously wrong, because AF2 is nowhere near the quality of Triple A baseball. That's all I'm saying. Charge $10 for seats ans let's see what happens.
This is rec-league football. These guys sell furniture, work for cities, deliver products, teach, manage convenience stores, then after work, get together and practice some football plays. On weekends, they play games.
There's nothing wrong with that, but to charge up to $30 for a seat to these games is outrageous, because this is not professional minor league sports. The Conquest/Firebirds are comparable to the Albany Metro Mallers, not the Chicago Rush or the Philadelphia Soul.
Capital Region sports fans are not idiots. Perhaps if they charged $4 to $8 for tickets, more people might go. But, don't sell it like it is a professional minor league sport. We're not buying.
The TU stated that Harkness didn't like the fact that four Union players were suspended for academic reasons, so the players quit and JV players finished the season.
Talk about teaching kids a lesson---what a farce. He was a great coach, but this is a blemish in what otherwise was a fine career.

No more Matt Murley updates. He is what is wrong with this country and why we're in such a financial mess: greed, greed and more greed.
The man had a binding contract guaranteeing him at least $125,000, and perhaps as much as $500,000, but he skipped town and left his integrity behind.
When things don't go well in the KHL, good luck finding a job playing hockey on North America.
He could certainly live on $125,000, but he broke a committment and that says a lot about the man's character.
