It was good to see the Gazette's coverage of the Family Court race. Judicial races don't usually get much notoriety and, as a result, voters don't always know much about the candidates. I know Jill Polk to be extremely qualified for the job -- as readers of the story can ascertain -- AND as an attorney of unmatched integrity and compassion. She has dedicated most of her legal career to working with children and families, making her the best choice on September 10. Jill has the heart and the intellect to be an exceptional Family Court judge for the citizens of Schenectady.

I think this story says more about loyalty (or the lack thereof) than it does about Blanchfield or any of the other candidates. These "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately?" party leaders in Schenectady are a sorry lot of late.

There is also a.Democratic.primary for Schenectady City Council. Voters will finally get a say in who fills this much-discussed seat.

As it has proven in the past, the SFT puts kids and community first. This is something every Schenectadian should take heart in. Thank you to Sxhenectady educators.

Actually, objective sources such as Education Week put NYS schools near the top in overall quality. Graduation rates are also on the rise. One can get a good education here, from pre- K through post-grad. Don't believe the rhetoric coming out of Cuomo's mouth. He has an agenda and it is not to support our kids.
