My sister played in the Empire State Games several times in the 80's. My parents would have never paid a fraction of that for her to play. 285 is way too much. I understand uniforms and officiating cost money. Am I to believe they are paying to use these fields? If so, how about getting them donated? I have played in several national softball tournys. They charge 500 per team to play for the week. This includes fields, umpires, awards, opening and closing ceremonies. They also provide meals and entertaiment at each. My team is sponsored. Am I to expect no one would donate for this? I am sure there are equipment companies that would donate product to display their name one everything. I mean I am a half-assed beer league softball coach and I can come up with better. Don't they have a committee or something put together to work this out? 285 is cheating too many top athletes from representing each region. The best athletes in the state? I think not. The best that can pay.
