First, I would like to say that I am a fairly recent graduate of SHS (2005) and to say that it's just another day in the Schenectady Educational System is very hurtful. I along with most of my class were productive students who were rarely if ever were involved in acts of violence, in and outside the school. That's saying a lot for a class of 350+.
Second, my parents are both graduates of Mont Pleasant High School along with their siblings. Both are contributing, hard working citizens. Far from the trash that blew to the other side of the tracks.
Third, knowing these other girls are linked to a gang should be stucking up like a sore thumb. No they may not be able to be charged with anything in this particular altercation but being in a gang means frequent acts of violence. And the disturbing part about the acts of violence is that they're not going to be contained to the school grounds. They're going to be through out our community. School officials and Police need to take the information that they are linked to a gang very seriuosly and find ways to break these gangs down. How many more poor kids need to be pushed to the point of suicide before we get the point??
