biography

Sudip Bhattacharya is a Reporter at The Daily Gazette. It's his job to report on Montgomery, Fulton, and Schoharie counties. Before joining the paper in June 2014, Sudip was the first ethnic, immigration and culture reporter for the Lancaster Newspapers in Pennsylvania. He has also written for CNNPolitics.com and the Washington City Paper, exploring issues ranging from immigration to local city politics. In case you're wondering, Sudip is not a D.C. native, although he did earn his master’s in journalism at Georgetown University. In fact, Sudip was born in Queens and raised in the suburbs of New Jersey. He is a Rutgers alum but not a huge college football fan, so please don't ask him questions about how well the team is doing. He likes to write because he likes getting attention. He chose to be a journalist, however, because he believes good journalism is essential in creating democracy for everyone. One of his favorite foods is naan (if you ever want to drop by with some, much obliged) and one his biggest influences is the author/activist James Baldwin. You can contact Sudip with story ideas and such at his email, sbhattacharya@dailygazette.net, or call him at 518-390-7762. Feel free to follow him on Twitter too, at @ResistRun.
