Bill covers the Albany Devils and thoroughbred racing at Saratoga Race Course. After earning a bachelor's degree in literature from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, he started as a stringer covering sports, town meetings and school board meetings for Eagle Newspapers, a group of weekly papers in the Syracuse area. Bill earned a master's degree in journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University before taking a job with The Watauga Democrat in Boone, N.C., covering prep sports in 2003. He moved back north in 2006 and worked as a sportswriter for The Leader-Herald in Gloversville until joining the Gazette in November. In Gloversville, he wrote a high school sports column for three years and was awarded second, third and finally first place for sports column writing by the New York State Associated Press Association.
