Carolina Hurricanes beat writer Chip Alexander has a response from GM Jim Rutherford on Matt Murley's decision to forego his contract and leave to play in Russia. Murley has been suspended by the organization.

No more Matt Murley updates. He is what is wrong with this country and why we're in such a financial mess: greed, greed and more greed.
The man had a binding contract guaranteeing him at least $125,000, and perhaps as much as $500,000, but he skipped town and left his integrity behind.
When things don't go well in the KHL, good luck finding a job playing hockey on North America.
He could certainly live on $125,000, but he broke a committment and that says a lot about the man's character.
