My understanding of the situation is Paterno found out, told the College administration, then left the rest to them. If that is true, where was the foul, what did he do wrong? If he went directly to the police with the information, you know the College officials would have been upset because they would be caught unprepared for the onslaught bad press.
He gave them a heads-up to prepare and now they want to hang him for not going to the police himself. Sounds to me like he is in a 'damned if you do damned if you don't' nightmare scenario.
Sounds even more like the College is looking for a goat here (sacrificial lamb for the uninitiated) to take the heat off college administration officials. The departure of the long standing Football icon would be the headline, not the true tragic one of boys defiled, and scarred for life.
Or perhaps they have stumbled upon a convenient way to replace an aged football coach.

Are you joking? There was not 1 boy, there were over 40. Get your facts straight. He'a filthy old man and should be imprisoned. He was turned in years ago. How would you like it to be your child? He looks like Freddie Kruger---FRISKEY---

Shirley, Paterno was not the one who abused the boys ... Don't get him confused with Sandusky, who should be shot and then hung for what he did to those children who looked up to him!!!

airedale1950- "bad press" for a school should never come before the safety of children and be used to excuse a higher responsibility this coach had to the greater community. shame.
