You made my point, Saratoga property and sales tax is so low BECAUSE republicans are running the show. Only $2.15 per thousand not bad and a 7% sales tax to boot. I wish Schenectady taxes were that low but we have had democrats running the show here for far too long.

Even if this passes Schenectady County with its new 14-1 Democratic majority will have the highest sales taxes. Just like highest property taxes. Democrats don't care if its regressive. They slam everyone to the wall.

This is how Communism works....One party...no checks an d balances...no accountability...to get a job...you have to belong to the party...and not just one job...two, three or four jobs...Keep drinking that kool aide you are going to die...Teams in politics don't work...they create stagnation and disease...

I imagine the Poll is fairly accurate- why would people in the richest county in the area drive out of there way to save 1%? Also, the price of gas is no incentive either. Hopefully, more will shop closer to home and cut down on wasteful driving and wasteful pollution. Maybe gas prices will drop because of it...hey ya never know- especially with all those SUV's....

Wonder what the psyche. impact will be when sales tax reaches the 10% plateau and total payroll deductions rise to 40% of your paycheck. Am sure the "think tanks" are working on this. That being said we don't mind leaving Sch'dy and spending our money there. More activities and hardly any shootings/murders to be of concern.

I have to agree with tonijeano13. Sales taxes would be level throughout the area if Saratoga raised it to 8% total. Even if I were purchasing a $1000 appliance, would I drive to Saratoga County just to save $10. NO WAY! Even if I considered my time only worth minimum wage, it would be a loss ... not even considering the wear and tear on my car (approx $10 for 20mi r/t). I would be a fool to consider it.

While we're at it why don't we raise the the bottle deposit to 10 cents. This way more bottles would be returned and it would help our environment.And the state would still come up a winner with the revenue.
