I agree we should pull back but I don't agree with the President's plan. He should listen to the Generals on the ground.

All run on the promise to get us out of these 'involvements', but as soon as the candidate is elected, he discovers the real gravity and necessity of our presence in many of these places and bows to reality.
Before you know it...
...year four is on the horizon and it's time to kiss the Liberal butt for a while and make promises he knows are probably NOT in the Country's best interest.
After re-election, free from the shackles of election politics, the lame duck President can become a responsible leader again.

Our President is elected by citizens to represent the will of the people and their aspirations. Not to side step them. All war's should start and end with the will of American people- not any general on the ground. The military is simply in place to carry out any mission established by the citizens- Not the other way around. To Clifford above- Generals determining war strategy without the consent of the governed is defined as a Dictatorship- not a Democracy which the USA is supposed to be ...- OF, FOR and BY the People.... Perhaps if more Americans understood this basic civic lesson, -that power should be in our hands, not the Presidents or the Generals or the Corporations - perhaps our world would be a more peaceful place and our country wouldnt be spiriling downward economically.
