When you don't pay sales tax to NYS, the loss of revenue is made up with services/programs being cut, and you paying higher land and school tax. You think you are saving money but the only ones that benefit from this is the non homeowners.

That is the reason no one wants to do business in NY State except NY State....The reason our taxes are so high is because of the Fat Cat Golden Ticket Pensions and Health Care besides the bloated salaries....The ones that benefit are the Public Workers who leave NY State when they retire at 55.....

I don't like taxes any more than the next guy, but online sales should be taxed uniformly nationwide. In spite of what the Tea Partiers think, we can't have a civilization without government, and we can't have government without taxes!

The word is anarchy, I believe.

Geez you sound like your talking about OWStreeter not a Tea Partier..Anarchy is right....When you have Government protecting and taking care of it self and not the people...Public Service turns to Self Service...we can't be paying these fat cows more and more with our taxes...We need reform..I agree we can't have government without taxes..We can't keep paying lifetime pensions to people who move out to non or low tax states that don't have big pension employees with benefits to boot...That is called Communism...where people are slaves paying for the Party people to live like kings...Evil is Evil...you can't have it both ways...

Food for thought. I predict within the next 3 years a federal sales tax on all internet sales , Take it to the bank. Then the Fed will disburse funding to states from that revenue.

I plan on retiring to NC in 11 years, the diffence is I have paid for my own retirement and medical care. Get rid of ALL of the public employee unions in NYS. NYS is an at will hire and fire state and the people that work for the state need to be qualified. I see so many people in my office that husband and wife both retired from the state in their 50s that are making 60 and 70k each for the rest of their lives. What a scam.

Online sales taxes benefit the state where the seller is located, not the state where the buyer lives. Sellers are already expected to collect sales tax from buyers in their home state, but shouldn't be expected to add additional money to the state coffers by collecting from those who will not benefit.

I shouldn't have to pay a state tax to a state I don't live in. We have never been expected to pay state sales tax when shopping mail-order, unless the business is located in our own state.
