2012 is no joke either...think the most recent earthquakes are just a coincidence? How about the weather being in the 40's or better in January in upstate NY? or the alleged "test missile" seen in like london or somethign like that a couple of weeks ago. I think not. It's time to wake up people cause we are headed for extreme danger...don't wait for the government to confirm it either...

I've read and heard a fair amount regarding this issue and I think both sides are strongly adamant in their opinions and both can bring forth reputable scientists to back up those opinions. I think the real issue is that those who feel global warming is real don't tell the whole story and those you think it's a hoax don't listen. I was at first strongly in favor of this being a hoax, but then I thought, and listened more, and realized it's not the day-to-day temperatures that count, but the decade-to-decade, or the century-to-century temperatures that matter. That being said, the changes that those who favor global warming will be minuscule at best and we will never see those changes in our lifetimes, and probably neither will our children or grandchildren. The "warming" will be so slow that nobody alive at any point in time will witness the actual end of the arctic circle.

According to the NOAA, and The Department Of Defense, the 00's were the warmest decade ever on record.

I'll defer to their expertise as opposed to the corporate shills on FOX.

I seriously hope that was satire, because if it wasn't, you are in serious need of some type of therapy, or at the very least, a wee bit more education.

I'm going to view it as a cry for help.

Please, dude, stop trying to make the word "Schenectadian", synonymous with the word "moron".

You're not helping.

I'm not a scientist but I think these are just changes in the weather patterns that have happened over thousands of years. Granted we do have pollution and the ocean's temperature has risen a few degrees but we also had the coldest temps of the season right around Christmas and New Year's.

The issue isn't so much the warming of the planet as the contribution of human beings to the warming trend. This is far from a proven fact. Whatever the causes are, it's clear that warming isn't unambiguously bad and that a decision to attempt to keep the planet at its current temperature is simply a decision to let the current winners keep winning and to prevent the places that would benefit from warming from becoming the new climate winners.
