What I'm really surprised about is how many people rated his first 100 days as "excellent"... name 5 things he has done to earn that exhaulted rating... name 3... ok, name 2... one?? We're in trouble with this President. He's cutting his teeth on our tax dollars... not good.

Adirondakal: When exactly were we a democracy? Even though there is no universally accepted definition of 'democracy', there are two principles that any definition of democracy includes. The first principle is that all members of the society (citizens) have equal access to power and the second that all members (citizens) enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties. We started as a republic with some democratic overlaps, and we have sprinkled capitalism all over that, but we the people (as in the average Joe) have never been what I would say is truly democratic.
Fyrefly65: Since 9/11 we became a policed country and lost most of our civil liberties. It is called “the Patriot Act.” I am not really sure how many rights were left to take, but I’m pretty sure most if not all were gone long before Obama came into office.
NYgirl61: 1. Stem cell research (giving that back to Science); 2. A fixed timetable for Iraq with drawl (making that country accountable for their own & improving our tax burden); 3. Ordering addition troop surge in Afghanistan (where the real terror threat is right now) to protect the American people; 4. Signing laws to expand children’s health insurance (helping to reduce frivolous medical costs to tax payers) and; 5. Engaging world leaders in several different countries to address issues and concerns and improve our image (and maybe even get a few allies back).
Victoriasky: The Obama’s went to college; earned degree’s, paid back their student loans and EARNED a right to a nice meal and even an expensive pair of sneakers if they want. They made good choices in their lives to get where they are, even though neither of them had come from families that had money. People keep talking about the American dream but are hating on a couple that actually achieved it.

President Obama has taken on the mess George W. Bush left our country in. Only the rich made out during his presidency. Obama is trying to level the playing field. He is trying to get the country out of this deep recession. In only 100 days, the country is beginning to show growth and confidence in the economy. Stock prices are on the way up, slowly but surely. the construction industry is showing an upswing. He is using all the people at his disposal to rectify the problems left behind by the previous administration.

Hey nygirl61: Why are you hating or in other words being so envious? How many "nights out at a posh restaurant" did the PREVIOUS First Couple enjoy "while many folks are struggling to stay in their homes" when it was predominately Bush's administration that caused it.

"Oh, I wonder if Michelle is wearing her $540.00 sneakers tonight!"

Michelle can wear her $540 sneakers if she wants. She earned it. She worked hard for it. And maybe if you work hard yourself, you can too own a pair of $540 sneakers too!!!! (smile) - see how that works out? You get nothing for free...again GO OBAMAS!!!!!

schdygrl said it best and i really don't have to say anything else other then what she said. i feel safer in the first hundred days then i did for eight years with bush and if bush had listened to people he would have things in place to protect against 9/11. the face that i actually wanna listen to our president speak and not laugh at the fact that he has someone else write for him and still mess it up. yea obama has spent billions of dollars on things and put us more in debt but he is spending money that we once had when bush came into office. clinton left bush a massive surplus and he spent more money in his first four years in office then all the other presidents. this country is in far better hands then it has been with repbulicans. they had their chance to run this country and they ran it into the ground and the american people spoke up and said its time for a new direction.

annarondac-
It is funny how I spend my time, thinking and putting into words, forming well thought out paragraphs and you come up with a one sentence response. Rush is really great at creating Parrots to mimic his words, but all the parrots get stuck when they are given truth, logic and reasoning and cannot come up with a response. I wasn’t going to respond, since you really put no effort into thinking about my first post, however I realize that you probably only understand “socialism” through they eyes of these rich talk show hosts who love their money and are good at sheltering you from the truth (by lying to you).
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital (ie banks, credit card companies, big business, etc) creates an unequal society, (welfare versus wall street) and does not provide equal opportunities for everyone in society (education in Schenectady City School district versus a private school education).
Therefore socialists advocate the creation of a society in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly based on the amount of work people do. I really want to emphasize the working part, because in a socialist society there are NO handouts. People have to contribute to society in someway. There isn’t a system of welfare.
The rich idiots don’t want you to know what socialism really is because they are not really working. They count on you staying uneducate so that they can stay rich (ie, have lots of power) Limbaugh signed a contract through 2016 that keeps him on the air for 400 million dollars! Ranting on the radio is worth 400 million dollars, not including perks, sponsorships, etc. Why would you believe anything that man has to say? He is protecting his own interests, not the interests of the average Joe. They use him and others to keep you conservatives uneducated and puppets on their strings. Someone complained about a nice dinner that the Obama’s enjoyed, well the Obama’s made 2 million last year, a mere fraction of what Limbaugh made, just to run his mouth, not an entire country that was left in ruins.

Adirondackal- Here is where I differ from you. First off, I have a very high IQ, an education and 2 jobs. I am not looking to get ANYTHING from Obama. I voted for Obama because the system was flawed and we needed to try a little something different. It isn’t about what he is going to give to me, its what he isn’t going to let people take from me (i.e. 29% interest on credit cards, erroneous bank charges, 15,000 annual health care cost, etc., etc., etc.) I along with everyone I know expect to work and contribute to society, we just don’t want to be slaves to the system and give everything we make to corporate America. I hope I have cleared this up for you.

Just recently, ACORN is being prosecuted in Las Vegas for Voter fraud, yet billions of tax dollars from the stimulus package is going to that organization. Five of the president's cabinet are tax cheats and only paid back taxes when they came up for nomination and did not pay the penalties that regular people have to pay. Yet we're lectured by the Veep that it's our patriotic duty?

Yet I have to pay a property tax rate 80% higher than any state in the union, then taxed on everything else to support a corrupt government? Doesn't take Einstein to figure out this one.

In January while working out issues with the stimulus bill, a bill for "neighborhood stabilization activities" was introduced. This was for non profits and dealing with housing issues. The money was previously limited to state and local governments (and we all know they are always give out money fairly and suffer from no corruption), but Democrats didn’t trust big government(contrary to popular belief-again thanks to rush) to handle this and wanted the 4.19 billion dollars (I believe it was 2.25 billion actually passed) to be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds. However, to this date they have not applied and have not been approved for any money. There ar some great success stories from this allready if you care to look them up. Oh and by the way, they are crediting Bush for this since he started this stimulus before he left office.

Your information from Rush and his cronies is once again wrong and misleading. It is so sad that lies are all these people have to try to justify their anger. I remember a day in this country where honesty and honor were everything.
As far as your other issue with property tax, that has been going on for YEARS and I'm pretty sure Obama isn’t the secret governor of this state and mayor of every town in New York to be responsible for that issue. Although if Rush could find a way to spin in and blame him I'm sure he will. It is a lot easier to sit around and complain about what isn't right then to try to find a solution to make it right.
As far as corruption I totally agree. I am so sick of corporate America, big government, etc telling us what we need and creating little slaves out of us. DO I think Obama is a savior or a perfect politician…NO WAY! However, he is at least addressing some issues that are serious to me and my future, which is more than I can say of anyone that I can remember.

Oh and fyrefly65, you were responding to a poll question regarding Obama and his first 100 days in office so don't act like I am way off on my response to you. You also said "...things are about to get a whole lot worse. Our rights are little by little being taken." Which are tenses (present and future) that imply you are discussing your fears of the Obama administration. Instead of me reading something right, how about you concentrate a little harder on your response and try to be more clear next time.

As I expected, the same tired talk about Bush and the rich people comes out in an Obama poll. What I didn't expect was the 9/11 conspiracy talk. But I guess the liberals will chalk up their problems to anything but themselves. Change has come to Washington. Yeah, because we've never seen the likes on Joe Biden and "Tax Fraud" Tim Geithner before. In true Democrat form Obama has exploited the less fortunate and the "economic disaster" to gain as much control over America as possible. You really think he's doing it for the "people"?

ddaydan: Are you serious? The failed war in Iraq has cost 3 trillion dollars and we will have effects of that for years to come (vet's medical care-physically and mentally). You people really need to learn how to research rather than be parrots.
Its really funny too- the same people that complain about socialism, welfare and community projects are the same ones who scream about killing babies. Why do you think there are all of these social programs in the first place? It's all about people having babies that can't care for them or provide for them. I wouldn’t be surprised if you also want no condoms passed out in the school and for people to discuss abstinence only. “Just Say No” didn’t work for drugs and it certainly isn’t going to stop hormones from raging.
If you care so much, go on up to Hamilton Hill or Mont Pleasant and read to some of the kids, volunteer your time to the boys and girls club, become a foster parent. Once again, everyone likes to complain but what are you doing to make a difference?
I wouldn't want my daughter burdened with a child before she was capable of proving for them in a proper way that didn't burden society either. That doesn’t mean I would force her to have an abortion. Since abortion became legal in 1973 in the US and Obama was born in 1961, I’m pretty sure at 12 years old, he had nothing to do with killing the babies.

How come schdygrl is the only one on this whole comment page that actually sounds like someone who knows what they are talking about? Rush Limbaugh is the biggest peice of crap I have ever seen in my life. All he cares about is his money and blinding the people he talks to with lies. Why do you think Stephen Colbert picked him as the person to copy and make people laugh? That is because any logically thinking person listens to Rush Limbaugh and laughs at him because he makes no sense. All these problems that Obama is having to spend money on is all things that could have been taken care of eight years ago when we had a surplus left by Bill Clinton. Instead of giving tax cuts to the rich people that don't need it he should have been forcing them to pay more money but the burden then falls on the shrinking middle and lower class to pay for it. Obama is in no way shape or form perfect but he recognizes the problems that this country has and is trying to fix them. There is a reason Obama carried states in the election that no Demecrat has won since LBJ and its because this country is sick and tired of the rich right wing trying to control the country and only make money for themselves. People complain that we are becoming a socialist state and not democratic any more but we never were a true demcoracy. We have been more of a republic then anything.
