I believe we should not another "Schumer liberal type", we need a Conservative Republican, and an special election on this subject.

We certainly don't need another Schumer or Clinton, but a Conservative out of New York would only be doing the same thing (think how novel a conservative elected to replace a Clinton, from New York, would be on Capitol Hill -- this person would be an instant careerist rather than a representative).
I'd totally agree with a special election -- and the (even more improbable) addition of instant run-off voting to the process. But we're all going to get screwed as the process stands.

What has Hillary ever done to make things "better" for the state of New York??? I'm glad she's leaving, she never was a "real New Yorker" anyhow.... she came HERE for ONE reason (and everyone knows it) .... her political asperations in a "easy win democratic state"....running for the senate seat in the state of New York was a "shoe in". Hope she does a better job as Sec. of State. Now the 'rest' of the U.S. can suffer along with her as we have.....MP (Clifton Park)

Regardless of party affiliation they need to be fiscally conservative and start eliminating more of the non-essential spending that is in the budget. From what I've been hearing about Paterson that is what he is looking to do.
None of the other listed candidates fits the bill.

WE NEED A SHUMER! I THINK CONGRESSWOMAN GULLIBRAND. Democrats have done a good job in the senate but Bush Vetos every thing that can help us. But I still belive we should vote for who takes over.
