4-day work week!

Things I've done:
- Moved to a more centralized location, less than 3 miles from work, school, and the cafe... the 3 places I spend most of my time. I try to drive less than 10 miles a day if possible. Even in my relatively-gas efficient SUV, I can usually go 2 weeks without filling up.
- Stay local. I rarely leave Schenectady County. There's plenty to do in town.
- While I've yet to do it because of time constraints, I do plan to take the bus on the occasional trips to Saratoga.
- I wish I could ride my bike with destinations (vs just for exercise) more, though the paths aren't convenient enough. Like I'd often have to ride my bike in the road with 40MPH traffic, or carry my bike up a hill through the woods to ride across a train bridge, things like that discourage me from taking the bike instead of the car. More bike paths and sidewalks would really help.
- Carpool. Riding with friends and family whenever possible.

There's not a whole lot I can do, seeing as I have a daily commute that isn't do-able by bus. But I do carefully weigh each non-commuting trip out (do I really NEED to go to the store today, or can I wait until I need to buy more things or go somewhere else nearby as well?).

Right tool for the job. You could purchase a Prius with 50+ per gallon, room for 4/5 and a small trunk. OR, you could choose to purchase a compact pickup, with a modern computer controlled 4 cylinder engine and get around 27 miles per gallon, with room for 4 and a HUGE trunk to carry many things that could reduce shopping to a bi-monthly event....

Less eating out. Less going out. Much less driving.

Instead of driving to the basketball courts I will take my bike to save some gas
also I pump more iron to relieve the frustration of the high gas prices, try it but you have to go heavy in the gym.

Shaqfu you are so right! We have a motto at our gym. Go hard, go heavy, or go home. Kudos to you!
