Doctor Who, the old television time lord himself, would have been impressed with Edwin Raynor, Jackie Kruk and other tech-minded teens in March 1984.
The young people were part of Mont Pleasant High School’s technical program, which offered college-prep courses. Edwin and his friends were working on a computer-assisted architectural design project. Jackie and her team had constructed a three-phrase transformer system. Thirty years ago, the teens were preparing for a March 12 open house.
The Doctor had his own technology, and may have used his “tardis” — the time-traveling ship disguised as a police telephone box — to reach public broadcaster WMHT on March 11, 1984. The station was running its annual membership drive, and a Who entourage made an appearance.
